Maybe. They'd work for monitoring the dashboards. I use Samsung DeX to get a full desktop environment, and if you set its desktop to black (transparent, in the glasses) you can set floating windows in your vision for any apps. I think newer versions of Android support a native desktop mode too. The hike part is the question: they resemble dark sunglasses with extra-thick frames so they do obscure the view a bit. Walking around a neighborhood's probably fine but I wouldn't do a dirt trail. The glasses are Nreal Airs if you'd like to look them up.
Have you considered putting the dashboards on a smart watch?
A smart watch approach is good suggestion. I should look into learning how to code such a thing. I have an apple watch but I’m guessing for a bespoke watch face dashboard it might be easier to do on another smart watch platform more friendly to a Linux developer.
