“GitHub Enterprise Cloud with data residency” is hosted on separate infrastructure and dedicated subdomains under *.ghe.com. It’s been around since November 2024z

It’s not the same thing as GitHub Enterprise Cloud hosted on the shared global network on github.com.

So confusing and so Microsoft. They love to have licensing so complicated their own sales people aren't up to date and have to rely on third party spreadsheets.

At the point you are self hosting, you have many more options ranging from a simple ssh git server with pick your favorite cicd, to gitlab ce, to forgejo, and more.

GHE.com has only been around since November 2024. Most GHEC customers I imagine are still stuck on the shared global infrastructure on github.com.

To add on, GitHub has made it explicitly clear that they are both not working on features to focus on their Azure adoption and many core projects are in stasis even from community contributions.

This is the way. Groovy isn’t that bad but the CPS interpreter & sandboxing is god awful to develop on and troubleshoot.

This is less related to general container utilities but I’m an avid user of GoogleContainerTools/container-structure-test. It’s a handy way to run integration tests on container apps or images.

These Google open source projects seem to be in need of some TLC as a lot of the original maintainers have moved on, which is a shame. I try to throw a PR their way and close out the odd issue when I can. The testing tool in particular is invaluable to keep my sanity with a large amount of base images I have to maintain internally.
