Turns out 516B of the revenues are from Nvidia, which is not an AI company, but just selling shovels. Nvidias revenues are effectively costs to actual AI companies.
Yep. Click the button that hides the infrastructure companies. The entire thing is a scam. The only thing holding it up is the belief that AI will replace the majority of human labor in the foreseeable future. So far, it has replaced almost none of it.
Given the 168MHz ARM, the real innovation here is the way stable dithering and a cell shading look was used to make the graphics good looking. Very well done!
It’s basically imaging one exoplanet per satellite. Would be good to figure out a way to slow down at 500 AU. In order to maximize the time for observation.
It would be most likely a whole solar system. Consider that new horizons only had hours during its flyby to collect all the telemetry that it did. Imagine having 600 pixels of resolution for an exo planet for up to 15 years. Plus all the other telemetry you'll be collecting about the galactic space near us.
With a Jupiter/solar oberth boost we can at best do around 20 AU per year, so best case scenario it would take atleast 25 years to get there, which honestly isn’t bad at all. For comparison voyager does around 3.6 AU/year.
A series of permanent stations near the vicinity of the oberth burns at Jupiter and the sun could add a lot of Delta V by firing a laser at the probe and the probe could fire one back. Even more so if it was a series of laser boosters strategically placed around the solar system. The numbers start to get really crazy.
Why would it be necessary for life to depend on breathing atmosphere? The atmosphere could just help in keeping the temperature even and provide some nice pressure, maybe that’s favorable over vacuum.
Simple. Energetics. Gaseous exchange has many energetic benefits that you give up if you have a mostly inert atmosphere.
If all your reactive chemistry comes from water/minerals, you’re also a heck of a lot more tethered, as both these cycle slower than the atmosphere.
A dynamic atmosphere is a huge component of the energetic efficiency of life on earth. And while it’s totally plausible other chemistries can match this, what’s implausible is for no chemistry to match it.
And when it comes to complex life on earth, it literally didn’t happen till oxygen percentages got sufficiently high in the atmosphere, a two billion year long process set off by Cyanobacteria. You can’t get big bodies if you can’t get this kind of energy.

Yes, that is what a trademark is for, in general. In this case, the court ruled that the term "open AI" is too generic to qualify for that protection exactly because it is a purely descriptive term that could legitimately refer to any "freely available" model in common parlance.

It is definitely the life-action role playing definition. As in you’re LARPing a successful company with high cash flow. I know it has nothing to do with actual role playing, it’s just the popular way of calling someone a poser on the internet at the moment.
it does still stand for Live Action Role Plating, but the meaning of the acronym on the internet has been expanded over the past few months to mean anything like "pretending" or "lying".
Kinda wanna know why I should learn this language. Unfortunately there’s no wiki entry (deleted with some controversy abut notability), so it’s hard to get the gist of it.
But mainly, language doesn't have a special gimmick. The main idea (imo) is it is opinionated to have defaults to cater for majority of the cases. So once you get used to it, it is pleasure to write C-like code in it.
