Pedantically true. By population density, NYC is essentially the whole state, or what matters anyway, to the huge majority of residents.

About 60% of New Yorkers are outside of NYC.

We'll have arrived at the automated transit network when they stop putting up road signs. The cars know where they are, and how to get there. Signs are for fallible ignorant humans.

> The cars know where they are

not if they're in a tunnel or a highrise canyon, or there is weather-related interference, or the maps have not been updated to reflect reality, or there is a detour for construction, etc.

GPS not nearly that reliable. There's a reason drones are moving towards computer vision rather than purely relying on GPS. The physical signs won't glitch out and show 100m offset because a tall building was reflecting GPS signals.

Maybe in a 100% automated system we would replace the icons with QR codes or something but physical markers will likely be here to stay.

Grotesqueries that would give me nightmares. With the exception of the communi-grater which is just cool.

Just numbers? Was there a link to the sources in there?

Not that uncommon. It's so easy to just put up the new thing and make the old thing the failure route. But the old thing nearly never had the bandwidth for today's traffic. A famous EBay outage some years ago was just such a scenario.

Cool! The pictures remind me of my business partner Tom's basement - full of every computer and device he ever owned since the 1970's. But his are more orderly, sorted and filed and often in the original packaging. It'll be a great contribution to some museum one day.

Really? The man directly responsible for defeating all measures meant to protect the public? Sounds serious to me.

The outbreak was in Samoa in 2019, explain how that could have possibly been his fault?

OP gives the whole chemical chain. But, short answer, oxygen in, CO2 out - it's that 'C' that holds the lost weight. We're breathing out carbon by the pound.

50 MTons of coconut oil are produced per year (approximately). Is this a significant amount, compared to oil derived from crude (where gas currently comes from).

No.

Around 3.5 million tonnes of coconut oil per year.

Around 4.5 billion tonnes of fossil fuel oil per year.

Thanks - I was using the wrong table, total coconut or something.

All water under the bridge. Ethanol is now a paying proposition. And it uses corn we used to dump.
